Ethiopia Children's Project
The AIDS pandemic is a tragedy that is sweeping through the African continent.
About once every twenty seconds a person dies of AIDS related illnesses, which
means that a staggering number of 2,500,000 people are dying every year.
It is estimated that there are more than 13 million AIDS orphans with almost no
structure to support them. It is likely that the number is in fact
significantly higher than estimated. The number of orphans in Ethiopia is
growing every day. There are millions of these children already with many more
expected, as the growth of AIDS continues throughout the country. About one in
six AIDS orphans is HIV positive.

Motivated by our recent work with HIV positive orphans in Ethiopia,
Adoption-Link is planning to develop working agreements with several existing
orphanages in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Adoption is the best solution for only
some HIV positive children. Adoption-Link is also planning a sponsorship
program which will enable older HIV positive children to remain with a family
member(s) and continue in school. Every effort will be made to reunite and keep
a child with his or her biological family.
